Workin’ 9-5,

What a way to make a livin’… Well whether you have a solid occupation that gives you 9-5 or if your playing your cards on may tables right now; one thing is for sure, you are either professional or a prof in training. So here’s to you and all of the work you do! I had the privilege to photograph a young professionals event at Oreana winery in Santa Barbara, it was great seeing people in all areas of work come together and find that they have at least one common thread that holds them together, this being the drive for success. It was a nice evening at Oreana Winery; accompanied with music provided by Dj Johnny Blaze and hors d'oeuvre’s Lorraine Lim Catering.

Thanks!

Life on the Plains

I just got back from my trip to Kansas. I forget how much I miss it until I get to wake up to the sound of birds chirping, or to be outside at night and hear the frogs croaking and the crickets chirping after a solid rain. I forget the colors of Kansas too, with all four seasons represented Kansas has many shades. This time of year you can be faced with cloudy overcast skies that come pre-packaged with thunderstorms and tornado's, or it could be a bright sunny day, the air thick enough to cut with a knife. I forget about the golden rods that shoot up from the ground that paint the landscape with an ocean like flow of gold's and amber's in the wind. I love Kansas-it is my home-but I am also a stranger to its wild ways.

Whispers of the world around you…

So I was in a coffee shop the other day doing some work and was taken back by the ability to focus…or lack there of. It is sometimes noisy in this particular coffee shop and today wasn’t any different. So I decided to listen to my ipod, which seemed to help for a bit. About five minutes went by of being truly engulfed by my work accompanied with good tunes by Jon Foreman. Then it hit me, as if I were waking from a coma, I started to hear whispers, much like the sound of the wind rustling in the trees on a cool overcast October day. This brought me to an epiphanic moment regarding focus and its importance in life. How important is it to: one, find your focus, and two, to find a way to support your focus in a way that keeps you there. With out a will, focus, and determination you are left floundering about in a sea full of people, where in this case spitting won’t help you determine which way it up. Know where you are going, find your focus, and run with it.

On a much lighter note, here is a little taste of what I have been up to :)
